The Boy’s basketball team is currently in their off-season. Last year our boys basketball team won the state championship. I caught up with Senior Malek Robinson to discuss what he's looking forward to this season.
How has your off-season training prepared you for the upcoming season?
The way the off-season training prepares me for the upcoming season is working on my endurance and spending more time with my teammates so we can have better team chemistry.
What are your personal goals for the season both individually and as part of the team?
My personal goal for this season is to win Gatorade player of the year and my team goal is to win my second state championship.
How do you plan to balance academics with it being your last year in highschool?
The way I plan on balancing my academics and basketball with this being my last is, our coach holds us to a high standard so we can’t have 2 more c’s and nothing less than a c so I have to have my work and academics down before I get to play.
Can you describe the team's dynamic and how it has changed or evolved since the last season?
The way the dynamics have changed from last year team and this year team is 5 seniors left so I feel we have someone to fulfill each roll that played by a senior last year and I feel we still have no drop off from the 5 starts to the ones coming off the bench I feel our line of can change every night.
Who has been your biggest inspiration or role model in basketball and why?
My role model is Michael Jordan because he always been a winner and he plays both sides of the ball and contributed to it at the highest level of basketball.
Malek is ready to win again. We’re excited to see how the season unfolds,On and off the court Malek is very prepared for this basketball career to succeed.
