  • REVIEW - Wicked For Good Falls Short: A Sequel That Couldn't Recapture the Magic | TLFP

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link REVIEW - Wicked For Good Falls Short: A Sequel That Couldn't Recapture the Magic The Wicked For Good movie will never top the original first Wicked movie. The Wicked For Good movie will never top the original first Wicked movie. Some of the songs were good and the plot twist at the end was entirely predictable. I mean I don’t think they would let the “bad guys” win in the end in a movie like this. Compared to the first Wicked movie, the songs were way better. I think a lot of what happened in the Wicked For Good movie made sense. Since everyone knows that Wicked is an alternate perspective of the Wizard of Oz, a lot of the storyline lined up with eachother from each perspective. What confused me though was the cowardly lion and the man made of metal were directly created from the witch and wanted their revenge. And also the scarecrow man ended up being inlove with the witch. That part specifically did not line up for me. Honestly in the end if it came up to a choice between Wicked and Wicked For Good, then I would pick Wicked a thousand times out of ten. The second movie was great, but in my opinion it will never top the first. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

  • Kyrie Irving Injured | TLFP

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Kyrie Irving Injured Quiana Lavergne Mar 10, 2025 Kyrie Irving, one of the best players for the Dallas Mavericks, recently suffered a serious knee injury during a game against the Sacramento Kings. Kyrie Irving, one of the best players for the Dallas Mavericks, recently suffered a serious knee injury during a game against the Sacramento Kings. While driving to the basket, he landed awkwardly after contact with an opposing player. Even though he was in pain, he stayed on the court to take his free throws, making both free throws, before leaving the game. Doctors later confirmed he tore his ACL, which means he won’t be able to play for the rest of the season. This injury is a huge problem for the Mavericks, who are already struggling. They recently traded one of their best players, Luka Doncic, to the Lakers for Anthony Davis, but Davis is also injured. Without their two biggest stars, the team is having a tough time winning games. In a recent match against the Phoenix Suns, the Mavericks only had five healthy players, which made things even worse. Meaning no substitution or anything. They even have a news article, explaining how the team Dallas Mavericks will be a disaster. After the injury, some people blamed the coach for playing Kyrie too much, but he shut down those rumors. He said that injuries are just part of the game and had nothing to do with his playing time. Despite the setback, he thanked fans for their support and promised to come back stronger next season. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

  • Reflecting on School Spirit | TLFP

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Reflecting on School Spirit Dajah Taylor Sep 3, 2024 Everything can always be improved upon. This includes school spirit. Everything can always be improved upon. This includes school spirit. School spirit is important because it strengthens the student body’s academic and social performance. For the past couple of years, our school spirit has been lacking. Many around the school also agree that the school spirit needs to be improved because it feels boring & mundane. Emily, a senior at Liberty Magnet High School stated, “Since it is our senior year, I feel the seniors can have a bit more fun like other seniors at other high schools”. She later says “I do like these Friday fun days a lot, but we need student-oriented pep rallies, not just for sports, but also before we go out on school breaks.” With as much work as everyone at this school puts in, it would be nice if there were more time to incorporate fun activities and events. School should be a place where you want to learn, hang out with your friends, and a safe environment to come to. School shouldn’t be a daunting or depressing place to go to for multiple hours out of your day. School shouldn’t be filled with just work and restrictions, what’s the fun in that? Another student at Liberty Magnet says, “Create a less strict environment, it’s hard to relax and enjoy school" (Carmen, 12th). A second senior, Anna, also says that we should have, “more energetic teachers that are happy to come here”. With Olivia(12th) adding on that we need to get more, “experienced teachers”. Most of the kids at our school believe that we don’t do many fun activities and the teachers here don’t bring life into the classrooms. However, it’s important to note that both positive and negative feelings are brought on by the people we surround ourselves. Enthusiasm comes from both sides. You don’t always have to do big things to create a positive environment. Everyone has to do the little things for a positive atmosphere to be created. In the best interests of everyone, we all have to meet each other in the middle. Something as simple as saying, “Hello” or “Good Morning” are great ways to brighten someone’s day. Opening the door for others is a good way to encourage helpfulness and positivity. Walking on one side of the sidewalk is another way to show you’re considerate. To improve our school, everyone has to put in the effort to make it happen. That means kids have to not get in trouble, so that way we can celebrate everyone’s accomplishments with fun activities. That also means that teachers, staff, and students all have to be respectful and appreciative of everyone around them because without the staff, teachers, and student body this school is nothing. The only way our school spirit is ever going to improve is if everyone is willing to be open and lend a helping hand. There is always a way to get involved in something and be a part of something bigger than yourself. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

  • Cancel Culture Is Getting Tiring | TLFP

One tweet, one slip-up, one misunderstood phrase and suddenly you're erased. People like James Charles, Bryce Hall, Fannita all were about to "cancel culture". They were popular figures on the app tiktok but the fame got the best of them and they soon learned the consequences of that very soon. In my opinion, canceling culture is getting really tiring. I believe influencers/celebrities have to watch what they say just because of culture. Everyday there’s someone new that's being canceled. There’s words that were being used when I was younger that people are now getting canceled for because they are “slurs”. I interviewed my friend Nyla on how she feels about cancel culture and she said, “ I believe that cancel culture is becoming too much. Everyday there’s a person getting canceled for nonsense. I see canceling someone for being racist and being a threat towards others. But I believe canceling someone let’s say because of their type. I would never understand canceling someone because of that because everyone has a preference.” comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

  • OPINION: The Dismantling of the Department of Education | TLFP

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link OPINION: The Dismantling of the Department of Education Dajah Taylor Mar 21, 2025 President Donald Trump signed an executive order on March 20, 2025 to dismantle the Department of Education. President Donald Trump signed an executive order on March 20, 2025 to dismantle the Department of Education. Many Conservatives believe that education should be in the state's control and not the country. Due to the recent liberal ideas being brought into the classroom the conservatives believe this is messing with the educational system. The point of having a department of education is to ensure that students can fund their education with loans, and funds public K-12 schools. Before the inauguration of Donald Trump there were 4,133 workers in the Department of Education and after the inauguration 600 people resigned. As of March 11 2,183 are remaining at the department. Linda McMahon says that America has “a system that is failing them”. Due to students reading and math scores have not changed and only decreased since 2022. A 2024 poll was conducted by All4Ed and 58 percent of the participants responded that they did not want it to be abolished. Trump has assured the public that the sources that the Department of educations distributes to systems will be “preserved and redistributed to various and other agencies”. Dismantling the Department of Education does not seem like a good idea to me. I am not confident that Trump will fully find a way to support the education crisis we have in America. Especially with the dismantling of DEI this will affect scholarship help, loans, and loan forgiveness. Linda McMahon is the person who was appointed by President Trump to handle the Department of Education which is interesting. Linda McMahon is married to Vince McMahon and he owns the WWE corporation. President Trump is a member of the WWE hall of fame. So it makes sense with that affiliation that he puts Linda in charge. School is meant to be a place where children learn how to function in society. It should not be spent worrying about how to pay for it. There should be a system in place where the education across the country can be at a high standard for all children, not just some children. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

  • REVIEW - Katseye: Your New Favorite Artist | TLFP

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link REVIEW - Katseye: Your New Favorite Artist Katseye's newest release, Beautiful Chaos, is only the group’s second EP, but it already shows how much the six members are reaching for something bigger than just another pop project. Katseye's newest release, Beautiful Chaos, is only the group’s second EP, but it already shows how much the six members are reaching for something bigger than just another pop project. The group was formed in 2023 through a global talent competition and signed under HYBE and Geffen, giving them the resources and spotlight to aim straight for an international audience. The members Sophia, Lara, Daniela, Manon, Yoonchae, and Megan bring different cultural and musical influences to the table. Together, their sound is meant to feel global, more universal than just a single genre. The EP features five songs, each aiming to showcase a different style. “M.I.A.” and “Mean Girls” dip into upbeat, electronic inspired pop. “Gabriela” experiments with reggae rhythms and Spanish guitar, creating a warmer sound. But the most talked about track is “Gnarly,” a chaotic hyperpop style anthem that doesn’t hold back. Think BRAT but on ten. It’s noisy, bright, and full of unexpected turns, which makes it stand out against the smoother, safer songs on the project. As a whole, Beautiful Chaos is tightly produced and easy to stream, even if it sometimes feels too careful. From my perspective, though, the album works best when it’s less perfect and more daring. I like the confidence behind “M.I.A.” and the fun vibe of “Mean Girls,” even if they aren’t the most original tracks. “Gabriela” is probably the prettiest song on the EP, and it shows how versatile the group can be when they try something outside the usual pop formula. But “Gnarly” is the one that really sticks with me. At first, it’s a little hard to listen to it’s loud, messy, and even overwhelming but that’s also what makes it so addictive. By the second or third time hearing it, the chorus gets stuck in your head, and you realize it has more personality than anything else here. Overall, I enjoyed Beautiful Chaos because it shows both sides of Katseye the polished global pop group and the unpredictable risk takers. While some songs blend in with other mainstream pop, there are enough moments of originality to make me believe this group has something special. For me, it’s not a perfect album, but it’s one that leaves you curious about what Katseye will do next. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.
