With this latest update Roblox seems way more eerie and quiet.
In January 2026, Roblox released an update that separated users by age group, and only allowed players to chat with people in the same age group as them. This update has outraged many players and has caused a load of problems. Some seem to think this update will ultimately cause the downfall of Roblox.
The problem with this update that stands out to me the most is if you do not verify your age in the game, then it will put you in the age group they think you are in. This could really cause problems by mixing children with adults, and you know how that goes. The thing that Roblox is trying to protect the children from is now more prone to happen. This update has made Roblox way more dangerous than safe.
With this update Roblox seems way more eerie and quiet. The game is way less fun without people able to talk to other people. I thought the whole point of Roblox was to be able to socialize with others, but this update is stopping people from doing exactly that. Some even believe that Roblox is turning its players back into the original character called Guest.
This new verification process is also a big problem. You would think as a person who verified their age, you would be put with other people who have done the same, but it is the opposite. Even with your account verified, you are put in lobbies with people who can’t chat with you, and it is more quiet than ever. S0me people are even going as far as selling pre-verified accounts with different age groups which is even more dangerous, because creeps can buy accounts that are verified in young age groups, and chat with minors.
I think Roblox should remove this update immediately if they want their game to continue to thrive. Personally, I play Roblox games that don’t really need socialization, but when I do it’s not fun. And if Roblox doesn’t want to have more problems with their games, then they should get it done soon.
