OPINION - Teachers Are Heroes

Teachers are the unsung heroes of our school.
Teachers are the unsung heroes of our school. They’re the ones who show up every single day rain or shine ready to teach, guide, and inspire us, even when we’re tired, distracted, or just not in the mood to learn. They bring energy into the classroom, patience when we struggle, and encouragement when we need it most. Some are strict and push us to do our best, some are funny and make learning enjoyable, and some are everyone’s “favorite teacher,” the one whose class we actually look forward to. But no matter their style, they all share one thing in common: they keep the school running.
Students love to complain about homework, pop quizzes, and long tests (and let’s be honest, we all do it), but deep down, most of us know our teachers are doing it for a reason. They’re not just giving us busywork they’re preparing us for the future, teaching us discipline, and helping us build the skills we’ll need later in life. Still, it’s not easy for them. Many face challenges like large class sizes, limited resources, and the constant pressure to meet high expectations. Despite that, they show up, adapt, and find creative ways to make learning meaningful.
And teaching isn’t all they do. A lot of them coach sports teams, sponsor clubs, organize school events, and stay late grading papers or helping students one-on-one. They juggle so many responsibilities, often without much recognition. It’s easy to forget how much they sacrifice—time, energy, and even personal lives to make sure we have opportunities to learn and grow.
Whether we admit it or not, teachers shape the entire atmosphere of the school. They’re the reason there are games to cheer at, plays to perform in, and after-school programs to join. They’re mentors, role models, and sometimes even second parents. Without them, the hallways would be empty, the classrooms silent, and the school spirit nonexistent. Teachers don’t just teach they build the foundation for everything we do, and they truly are the backbone of our school.
