Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link REVIEW - Katseye: Your New Favorite Artist Katseye's newest release, Beautiful Chaos, is only the group’s second EP, but it already shows how much the six members are reaching for something bigger than just another pop project. Katseye's newest release, Beautiful Chaos, is only the group’s second EP, but it already shows how much the six members are reaching for something bigger than just another pop project. The group was formed in 2023 through a global talent competition and signed under HYBE and Geffen, giving them the resources and spotlight to aim straight for an international audience. The members Sophia, Lara, Daniela, Manon, Yoonchae, and Megan bring different cultural and musical influences to the table. Together, their sound is meant to feel global, more universal than just a single genre. The EP features five songs, each aiming to showcase a different style. “M.I.A.” and “Mean Girls” dip into upbeat, electronic inspired pop. “Gabriela” experiments with reggae rhythms and Spanish guitar, creating a warmer sound. But the most talked about track is “Gnarly,” a chaotic hyperpop style anthem that doesn’t hold back. Think BRAT but on ten. It’s noisy, bright, and full of unexpected turns, which makes it stand out against the smoother, safer songs on the project. As a whole, Beautiful Chaos is tightly produced and easy to stream, even if it sometimes feels too careful. From my perspective, though, the album works best when it’s less perfect and more daring. I like the confidence behind “M.I.A.” and the fun vibe of “Mean Girls,” even if they aren’t the most original tracks. “Gabriela” is probably the prettiest song on the EP, and it shows how versatile the group can be when they try something outside the usual pop formula. But “Gnarly” is the one that really sticks with me. At first, it’s a little hard to listen to it’s loud, messy, and even overwhelming but that’s also what makes it so addictive. By the second or third time hearing it, the chorus gets stuck in your head, and you realize it has more personality than anything else here. Overall, I enjoyed Beautiful Chaos because it shows both sides of Katseye the polished global pop group and the unpredictable risk takers. While some songs blend in with other mainstream pop, there are enough moments of originality to make me believe this group has something special. For me, it’s not a perfect album, but it’s one that leaves you curious about what Katseye will do next. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

  • Exploring the Environment of Baton Rouge | TLFP

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Exploring the Environment of Baton Rouge Courtney Prentiss Mar 21, 2025 Baton Rouge, the capital city of Louisiana, is a vibrant location characterized by its rich culture, history, and unique environmental setting. Baton Rouge, the capital city of Louisiana, is a vibrant location characterized by its rich culture, history, and unique environmental setting. Nestled along the eastern bank of the Mississippi River, Baton Rouge offers a distinctive blend of natural beauty and urban development. This article delves into the environmental aspects of Baton Rouge, exploring its geography, climate, and efforts towards sustainability. Geography and Natural Features Baton Rouge is strategically situated in the southeastern part of Louisiana, approximately 80 miles northwest of New Orleans. The city's proximity to the Mississippi River plays a crucial role in shaping its landscape and ecological system. The river not only provides water resources but also supports a diversity of wildlife and plant species. The surrounding wetlands and bayous are essential components of Baton Rouge's natural environment, offering habitats for various aquatic and terrestrial species. The city is also part of the Gulf Coastal Plain, which contributes to its gently rolling hills and fertile soils. These geographical features make Baton Rouge an attractive area for agriculture and outdoor activities, such as hiking and bird-watching. Climate Baton Rouge experiences a humid subtropical climate, characterized by hot, humid summers and mild winters. The average summer temperatures often soar into the high 90s (Fahrenheit), while winter temperatures are typically mild, with averages around the mid-50s. This climate supports a lush, green environment, but it also poses challenges such as high humidity and the potential for severe weather, including hurricanes and tropical storms. The region receives ample rainfall, averaging over 60 inches annually. This abundant precipitation sustains the city's greenery and supports its diverse ecosystems, but it can also lead to flooding, a common concern for residents. Environmental Challenges Like many urban areas, Baton Rouge faces environmental challenges that require careful management and planning. Pollution, particularly from industrial and vehicular emissions, is a significant concern. The city is home to several large petrochemical plants, which, while vital to the local economy, contribute to air and water pollution. Efforts to monitor and reduce emissions are ongoing, with both governmental and non-governmental organizations working towards sustainable solutions. Flooding is another critical issue, exacerbated by the city's low-lying geography and frequent heavy rainfall. The local government has implemented various flood mitigation strategies, including improved drainage systems and floodplain management, to protect communities and infrastructure. Sustainability Initiatives Despite these challenges, Baton Rouge is making strides towards sustainability and environmental conservation. The city has initiated several programs aimed at reducing its carbon footprint and promoting green practices. These initiatives include: Urban Forestry Programs : Efforts to increase tree canopy coverage throughout the city help improve air quality, reduce urban heat, and enhance the overall aesthetic of urban spaces. Recycling and Waste Management : The city provides comprehensive recycling services to reduce landfill waste and encourages residents to participate in waste reduction efforts. Green Infrastructure Projects : These projects focus on integrating natural systems into urban planning to manage stormwater, improve water quality, and create resilient landscapes. Community Involvement Community involvement plays a pivotal role in Baton Rouge's environmental efforts. Local organizations and volunteers actively participate in clean-up events, tree planting, and educational campaigns to raise awareness about environmental issues. These community-driven initiatives foster a sense of stewardship and encourage residents to take an active role in preserving their natural surroundings. In conclusion, Baton Rouge's environment is a tapestry of natural beauty and urban development, marked by both challenges and opportunities. Through concerted efforts and community engagement, the city is working towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future, ensuring that its unique landscapes and ecosystems are preserved for generations to come. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

In crowded halls, we brush, we glance, A fleeting smile, a shy romance. A world of laughter, friends surround, But deep inside, my thoughts confound. I guard my heart like fragile glass, Hoping this spark remains unseen, alas. With every word, I fight the thrill, The quiet crush, the silent chill. In shadows cast, I keep it close, A blooming dream that no one knows. Yet in the night, my thoughts take flight, In moonlit dreams, we hold on tight. For now, it’s ours, this sweet disguise— A secret crush beneath the skies. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

  • REVIEW - Wicked For Good Falls Short: A Sequel That Couldn't Recapture the Magic | TLFP

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link REVIEW - Wicked For Good Falls Short: A Sequel That Couldn't Recapture the Magic The Wicked For Good movie will never top the original first Wicked movie. The Wicked For Good movie will never top the original first Wicked movie. Some of the songs were good and the plot twist at the end was entirely predictable. I mean I don’t think they would let the “bad guys” win in the end in a movie like this. Compared to the first Wicked movie, the songs were way better. I think a lot of what happened in the Wicked For Good movie made sense. Since everyone knows that Wicked is an alternate perspective of the Wizard of Oz, a lot of the storyline lined up with eachother from each perspective. What confused me though was the cowardly lion and the man made of metal were directly created from the witch and wanted their revenge. And also the scarecrow man ended up being inlove with the witch. That part specifically did not line up for me. Honestly in the end if it came up to a choice between Wicked and Wicked For Good, then I would pick Wicked a thousand times out of ten. The second movie was great, but in my opinion it will never top the first. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

  • OPINION - Labubu: Yet Another Micro-Trend | TLFP

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link OPINION - Labubu: Yet Another Micro-Trend Demi Fleming Aug 22, 2025 Labubu perfectly reflects how internet culture shapes the way people consume objects and express their identity in real life. Labubu is a collectible plush toy created by Hong Kong-born designer Kasing Lung and brought to mass popularity by POP MART in 2019. The dolls have rabbitlike ears, pointed teeth, and expressive faces, sold in “blind boxes” that make them highly sought-after and collectible. Labubus have inspired a wider cultural trend, blending digital internet culture with physical products, and have even become part of the “IRL Brain Rot” aesthetic. Fans participate in this trend by buying multiple items like themed chocolates, matcha drinks, and other quirky objects that create a surreal lifestyle. The craze reflects both the nostalgic appeal of toys and the power of social media to turn small objects into global symbols. I think Labubu perfectly reflects how internet culture shapes the way people consume objects and express their identity in real life. The blind-box format is a genius move, tapping into both the thrill of chance and the deep human desire to feel part of a cultural moment. This unboxing excitement is a shared experience that becomes amplified on social media, especially on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. It's a prime example of how social media can elevate niche trends into major global phenomena, influencing everything from fashion to lifestyle choices. While some may see this obsession as silly or excessive, I believe it powerfully demonstrates creativity and the compelling modern need to be part of a distinct niche. For many, a Labubu figure isn't just a toy it's a form of social currency. Owning one is a quick, visual way to signal that you are in on the latest cultural moments and belong to a specific aesthetic. This mirrors how vinyl records became a massive thing in certain subcultures, initially seen as the coolest and most authentic thing to own. Back then, collecting vinyl was a sign of a deep, unique passion for music, a way to separate yourself from the mainstream. However, now that vinyl has become widely popular again, it's seen as trying too hard or simply being mainstream. In a similar vein, the Labubu trend will likely run its course, becoming too common and no longer niche enough. When that happens, its value as social currency will disappear, and collectors will move on to the next unique trend. Overall, Labubu and its surrounding trends reveal how physical objects can serve as crucial extensions of our online personas and community engagement. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

Baton Rouge has a new fried chicken spot, Southern Classic Chicken. It all started in Lafayette, and now the first Southern Classic chicken has opened in Baton Rouge. Ever since the grand opening, the lines have been wrapped around the building. Some people say they’ve waited over two hours just to get their food. The grand opening caused a lot of buzz on social media. Videos and posts showed long lines of cars and people. The hype was so big that police had to help with traffic. Everyone wanted to see what the fuss was about. Southern Classic has been around for years, starting in Shreveport and slowly expanding. In Lafayette, it became a local favorite. When people in Baton Rouge heard it was coming, expectations were high. But is it worth the hype? I talked to my classmate Anna, who tried it herself. She said she waited about 30 minutes in line. Her rating? A six out of ten. She admitted she only went because “everybody was talking about it.” She also said she’s had better chicken and wouldn’t wait that long again. Some people say it’s the best chicken they’ve had, while others call it overrated. Whether it’s worth the wait might depend on how much you love fried chicken. So here’s the question, would you sit in line for over two hours for chicken? Is Southern Classic the new king of Louisiana fried chicken, or just another spot in the lineup? comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

  • OPINION: I’m Tired of Hearing About Hailey VS Selena | TLFP

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link OPINION: I’m Tired of Hearing About Hailey VS Selena Brooklyn Patterson Apr 8, 2025 Both the individuals are married and happy. I’m tired of hearing about Hailey vs. Selena. Both the individuals are married and happy. Fans put it into perspective that Hailey is trying to be like Selena Gomez and somehow put them into competition with each other. This all started when Hailey Bieber got with Justin, from the beginning she’s always had a crush on him. There is no actual evidence or even proof that the two hate each other because of Justin Bieber or for any reason at all. This all came because fans made it up in their own heads that the things they were posting were targeted towards the other. Hailey herself said that any issues that they have had with each other was resolved. Selena even posted a post of them together. For some reason even through the denial of beef, fans still seem to think there is some kind of love triangle going on between Selena Gomez, Hailey Bieber, and Justin Bieber. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

  • Grammy-Nominated Singer Angie Stone Dies | TLFP

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Grammy-Nominated Singer Angie Stone Dies Darmicia Williams Mar 7, 2025 Stone was 63 Grammy nominated and Award winning RnB singer Angie Stone has passed away at the age of 63. She died in a vehicle accident, which occurred in Montgomery, Alabama. It was on March 1st, 2025 around 4 A.M. She was among the passengers riding in a Mercedes Benz Sprinter van with band members when it overturned and got struck by an oncoming semi truck. “Stone’s record label, SRG/ILS, confirmed Stone’s death in a statement on its website Saturday.” Unfortunately Angie was the only member in the accident who died. She had been nominated for many awards including one for best female RnB vocal performance in 2005. She was also an actor in her years on this earth. Starring in many things like “The Hot Chick” and “ Chicago”. This situation is really sad because someone who is widely known by the world has died. Angie's death has deeply hit many hearts in this nation. It makes it even worse because she died by an unfortunate event rather than natural causes. The fact she was the only to die in this event raises alarms in my mind. I'm not saying foul play was at hand, it just seems unbelievable that she was the only one who passed away. Even though I didn’t know her personally, I did know a few of her songs. They were really good. I know that a lot of older people were affected by her death as well, because she was really a part of their generation. I’m glad she accomplished a lot of trophies before she was unfortunately taken from this earth. My prayers are with her family from this sad occasion. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

  • REVIEW - An Inconsistent Horror Story | TLFP

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link REVIEW - An Inconsistent Horror Story “Monster: The Ed Gein Story” is not a regular true crime biography. It is made to be deeply psychological and visually arresting. “Monster: The Ed Gein Story” is not a regular true crime biography. It is made to be deeply psychological and visually arresting. The show dives into hallucinatory territory to depict Gein’s deteriorating mental state, using his dreamlike sequences, broken timelines, and mangled visual metaphors. These choices aim to give viewers a look into Gein’s schizophrenia and deeply rooted trauma that comes from his abusive mother, and his isolation from everyone else where he lives. Also everyone seems to take a specific dislike in the main character’s odd and creepy, high-pitched voice. There wasn’t much of a story to the show itself, but the way they were able to fictionalize it enough to make it worth the watch. With every victim in the show they sort of insulted them, whether they were real or assumed. The lines in the show were clearly based on the regular Hollywood storylines. You can basically tell that most of the stuff that was portrayed in the show was made up. Especially in episode six “Slanderous and untrue” was so far fetched from reality, to appeal to the audience. There is also a lot of gore included in the show, but I feel it was overexaggerated to appeal to another type of audience. The story relied on dragging out the gore and “creepy stuff" to get more views.I think that Ryan Murphy thinks he is pushing the envelope and “breaking norms,” when everything in the show was all the norms exaggerated to make it seem different. It seems he is trying to compare himself with Hitchcock and makes multiple points of doing so. Now, personally, I watch a lot of true crime and horror movies, so a lot of these things are easy to get by. But things were still pushed a bit too far. And back to his voice, a lto fo people say it was super annoying, and they couldn’t stand listening to it. Some even say he probably didn’t even sound like that, they just made him sound like that to make the character seem more creepy. I wouldn’t really call it a fictional story. It is about Ed Gein, the real person, but you have to remember that these people weren’t around to really know exactly what he was doing. It is more so about the myth surrounding Ed Gein, and they overlap it in interesting ways. With the combination of exaggeration and creepiness, and gore, that is what really makes the show seem more on the fictional side. While this show is odd and morbid, it was a good and interesting watch. If you can handle a show like this, then give it a watch. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

  • Two More Arrested in SU Student’s Hazing Death | TLFP

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Two More Arrested in SU Student’s Hazing Death Claniya Olinde Mar 25, 2025 Two more people have been arrested in the hazing death of Caleb Wilson, a student at Southern University. Police say Kyle Thurman and Isiah Smith were charged with felony criminal hazing. Earlier, Caleb McCray was arrested and charged with criminal hazing and manslaughter. Wilson died after going to an off-campus fraternity event. At first, fraternity members lied about where it happened, making it harder for police to figure out the truth. This case shows how dangerous hazing can be. Many people think there should be stricter rules to stop this from happening again. I think all sororities and fraternities should be banned. Clearly hazing being banned/illegal isn’t enough, this may decrease the chances of hazing happening. Other sororities are most likely part taking in the same activities and just havent been caught. A student lost his life because of people who think they are bigger and better than others. These are grown men who aren’t even in college, graduated. It’s good they are being charged, why come back to humiliate and harm students. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.
