Senior year becomes stressful because it is not just about school anymore. Students juggle classes, college applications, jobs, family responsibilities, and a social life to tend to. With all of the things on seniors' plates, it is no wonder why so many crumble under the pressure. Whether a student attends public or private school the responsibilities and stress remains. Many students are unsure about what they will do after high school. They are left with choices like college, trade school, workforce, and going into the military. Applying to college can be a lengthy and complicated process. Requiring many essays, lots of extensive research on colleges, and taking consideration of financial aid options. Trade school offers a direct path to a career path, while the military is great for students who want discipline and structure. No matter what path is taken , the transition will be hard. Many students say they are ready to graduate highschool and begin their lives but after being in a structured environment for 12-13 years many are not ready nor prepared. The stress to have it all figured is a huge weight for a 17-18 year old student to have. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.
- OPINION: On The Death Penalty | TLFP
Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link OPINION: On The Death Penalty Dajah Taylor Mar 7, 2025 A man was executed in South Carolina via firing squad. A man was executed in South Carolina via firing squad. This method had not been used in almost 15 years and it has never been used in the state. The only other two state approved methods besides firing squad is the lethal injection and the electric chair. Brad Sigmon, 67, was convicted of the double murder of his ex-girlfriend's parents in 2021. He also kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and held her at gunpoint; however, she managed to escape to safety. Sigmon’s attorney said that the choice to choose between the different punishments were “impossible” and “barbaric”. If Sigmon didn’t choose between the lethal injection or firing squad then by default he would be turned to a crisp in the electric chair. Gerald “Bo” King stated that Brad has no illusions about what being shot will do to his body. He does not wish to inflict that pain on his family, the witnesses, or the execution team.” Compared to the other choices, firing squad does seem like the viable option because it will end the pain the fastest. Today we live in a day where many believe that if someone murders a person then they should get life in prison. Many believe that the death penalty is the easy way out or even inhumane. However, I do not believe this. A man ended the lives of two parents. He took away the two people that would always love their daughter unconditionally and there is nothing that could justify that. Some relationships do end badly but that doesn’t mean you should retaliate and resort to killing and leaving someone with trauma. This punishment is completely justified because it will help the family get justice and heal from this wound that could have been avoided. Approximately 2,250 are on death row and the rate of execution declines each year. Morals do become a big deciding factor on how people choose to handle this situation. Hopefully in the future the prison system will get better with time. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.
- How Can We Promote Diversity and Inclusion in Our School Community? | TLFP
Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link How Can We Promote Diversity and Inclusion in Our School Community? Chante Howard Sep 4, 2025 Inclusion in the classroom means that all children, no matter their racial, religious, or ethnic background, gender, learning style, or ability have equal access to educational opportunities in a learning environment where all students are equally safe, valued, and respected. Inclusion in the classroom means that all children, no matter their racial, religious, or ethnic background, gender, learning style, or ability have equal access to educational opportunities in a learning environment where all students are equally safe, valued, and respected. Inclusion in the classroom means making sure all students feel seen and don’t feel excluded. It doesn’t have to just be in the classroom but just in the school in general. Not only teachers but students as well can come together as a whole to make sure that their classmates feel included. Now it’s really not the student’s job to do that but I believe that everyone getting along in a classroom can make the class more enjoyable and interesting. You don’t have to befriend them but you can make them feel included. I interviewed my friend Tyren Moore who goes here at Liberty Magnet High School. He is in 12th grade and he sometimes feels left out of things even while being around his own friends. I asked him “How can we create a more inclusive environment for students from different cultural backgrounds?”. Tyren said “ I believe that we can create a more inclusive environment for students from different cultural backgrounds by making sure everyone feels appreciated. Yes, as this school we have an African American History class but I believe we should have at least clubs for people of different races and cultures.” comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

- Were the Miami Mall Aliens Real? | TLFP
Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Were the Miami Mall Aliens Real? Taylor Harris Sep 4, 2025 We all can tell the alien sighting at the Miami Mall in 2024 was very suspicious. We all can tell the alien sighting at the Miami Mall in 2024 was very suspicious. How did so many people who have no connection to one another come out and say they saw a giant figure then the police department say no it was not? In January 2024, at the Miami Mall a big event of chaos broke out. People running out of the mall at all exits, yelling and screaming but what happened? Police reports say a group of teenagers started a fight and that's all what happened but witnesses who were at the mall and video footage describe an 8 foot figure is what caused all of it. A lot of witnesses say an alien was present. No one believes that a fight happened because a fight would not cause every single police officer in Miami to show up. Also, people who were in the mall reported that they never saw a fight break out. Lauren Lands who is a senior at Liberty Magnet High School lets me know her opinions “I don’t believe that the alien were real however I do believe that there are other beings other than us. I think that the police were trying to cover up something that they didn’t want the public to see. I understand why everyone is confused about this because in either situation of a fight or aliens, it is a confusing conflict”. Mason Hill is also a senior at LMHS and said “It is hard to know if the alien was real or not. I’ve seen the video footage and it does look like a tall figure but it is a very blurry video. How is it that every single person that was there doesn’t have a clear video of anything that night? I do find it suspicious how so many police showed up for a “fight between teenagers” because a teen fight does not require that many police and if it was a fight the police department is extremely unorganized to send every officer in Miami there”. I have the same opinion. Why out of everyone in the mall, we only have 1 or 2 blurry videos from far away from that entire night. If a fight broke out in Miami, someone is bound to record it. Police laughing off the matter is definitely suspicious as well. People were scared and feared for their safety and they laughed it off. At the end of the day, we might never know what truly happened. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

- OPINION - Labubu: Yet Another Micro-Trend | TLFP
Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link OPINION - Labubu: Yet Another Micro-Trend Demi Fleming Aug 22, 2025 Labubu perfectly reflects how internet culture shapes the way people consume objects and express their identity in real life. Labubu is a collectible plush toy created by Hong Kong-born designer Kasing Lung and brought to mass popularity by POP MART in 2019. The dolls have rabbitlike ears, pointed teeth, and expressive faces, sold in “blind boxes” that make them highly sought-after and collectible. Labubus have inspired a wider cultural trend, blending digital internet culture with physical products, and have even become part of the “IRL Brain Rot” aesthetic. Fans participate in this trend by buying multiple items like themed chocolates, matcha drinks, and other quirky objects that create a surreal lifestyle. The craze reflects both the nostalgic appeal of toys and the power of social media to turn small objects into global symbols. I think Labubu perfectly reflects how internet culture shapes the way people consume objects and express their identity in real life. The blind-box format is a genius move, tapping into both the thrill of chance and the deep human desire to feel part of a cultural moment. This unboxing excitement is a shared experience that becomes amplified on social media, especially on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. It's a prime example of how social media can elevate niche trends into major global phenomena, influencing everything from fashion to lifestyle choices. While some may see this obsession as silly or excessive, I believe it powerfully demonstrates creativity and the compelling modern need to be part of a distinct niche. For many, a Labubu figure isn't just a toy it's a form of social currency. Owning one is a quick, visual way to signal that you are in on the latest cultural moments and belong to a specific aesthetic. This mirrors how vinyl records became a massive thing in certain subcultures, initially seen as the coolest and most authentic thing to own. Back then, collecting vinyl was a sign of a deep, unique passion for music, a way to separate yourself from the mainstream. However, now that vinyl has become widely popular again, it's seen as trying too hard or simply being mainstream. In a similar vein, the Labubu trend will likely run its course, becoming too common and no longer niche enough. When that happens, its value as social currency will disappear, and collectors will move on to the next unique trend. Overall, Labubu and its surrounding trends reveal how physical objects can serve as crucial extensions of our online personas and community engagement. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.
