- SU Frat Members Lied About Where Pledge’s Death Happened | TLFP
Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link SU Frat Members Lied About Where Pledge’s Death Happened Claniya Olinde Mar 13, 2025 Caleb Wilson died, and the members lied about where it happened. Caleb Wilison, a junior at Southern University A&M College, died after attending an off-campus event. He was a part of the jukebox and was trying to get into the Omega Psi Phi. The members say he collapsed while practicing steps. The members actually lied. It turns out they were actually at a warehouse, and Wilson was punched in the chest. Wilson being punched in the chest caused him to collapse. He fell to the ground and began to have a seizure at the warehouse. The members of Omega Psi Phi brought him to the hospital. An anonymous source with direct knowledge came forward and said they met at an undisclosed location. At that location, they came up with a story about what happened to Caleb. This same source said none of the students participating in the fraternity were ever at a park. Caleb Wilson died, and the members lied about where it happened. This makes it really hard for the police to figure out what really went on. By lying, the members are trying to avoid getting in trouble or to keep their fraternity from looking bad. It seems like they are hiding more secrets and bad behavior. These lies make it harder for the pledge's family to understand what happened and get justice. This whole situation shows how dangerous hazing can be and how far some people will go to cover it up. This is literally why hazing is not even allowed. These fraternities do not care about the pledges, just care to feel like they have power over others. There should be stricter rules for fraternities or just end them all. All these lies just make a sad situation even worse. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.
- How School Is Affecting Seniors | TLFP

Senior year becomes stressful because it is not just about school anymore. Students juggle classes, college applications, jobs, family responsibilities, and a social life to tend to. With all of the things on seniors' plates, it is no wonder why so many crumble under the pressure. Whether a student attends public or private school the responsibilities and stress remains. Many students are unsure about what they will do after high school. They are left with choices like college, trade school, workforce, and going into the military. Applying to college can be a lengthy and complicated process. Requiring many essays, lots of extensive research on colleges, and taking consideration of financial aid options. Trade school offers a direct path to a career path, while the military is great for students who want discipline and structure. No matter what path is taken , the transition will be hard. Many students say they are ready to graduate highschool and begin their lives but after being in a structured environment for 12-13 years many are not ready nor prepared. The stress to have it all figured is a huge weight for a 17-18 year old student to have. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.
- NOLA Jail Escapee Has Been Caught | TLFP

After a long exhausting five month chase, the last escaped inmate, Derrick Groves, has finally been captured in Atlanta Georgia. Derrick Groves arrest marks the end of a major manhunt that began after several inmates escaped from the Orleans Parish jail earlier this year. But the question still remains earlier this year. But the question still remains - how exactly did he get caught, and why did he run in the first place? According to Fox 8 Live, new details have surfaced about the arrest of Derrick Groves. Authorities confirmed that groves had een on the run since the mass escape that left the city on edge. Over the months, police caught the other escapees one by one, but Groves managed to avoid capture until last week. His story spread widely across Louisiana, especially after reports suggested that he might have fled the state. A report from NOLA.com revealed that Groves’ capture rough relief to both local law enforcement and citizens who been following the story closely. He was reportedly the last ten inmates who managed to escape, making him the focus of the longest inmate searches in recent city history. Investigators believe Groves traveled to Atlanta to hide out, but he couldn't stay under the radar forever. To get community opinions on the case, I spoke with several people close to me, including my mother, a friend, cousin, and aunt, about how they felt after hearing about his capture. When asked how they felt, most said they were relieved to know that no one else from the escape was still on the run. Some admitted they had doubts that Groves would ever be caught, while others believed it was only a matter of time. A few even questioned whether his reasons for escaping, rumored to be connected to avenging his grandmother, were enough to justify his actions. Questions also remain about how he managed to evade police for so long and whether he could attempt another escape in the future. My interviewees agreed that while Groves’ capture ended the immediate danger, it also raised concerns about jail security and how such a large-scale escape could happen in the first place. In conclusion, Derrick Groves’ arrest brought closure to a tense situation that had stretched across months and multiple states. His charges have not yet been publicly released, but one thing is certain, he will not be seeing freedom anytime soon. This case serves as a reminder of how far authorities will go to ensure public safety and that even after months on the run, justice can still catch up. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Reflecting on Outfit Trends of 2026 Chante Howard Aug 15, 2025 Aren't you tired of scrolling on social media or even just going to school and seeing the same outfits about a million times? Aren't you tired of scrolling on social media or even just going to school and seeing the same outfits about a million times? And while the outfits are cute I just wished people came with their own style instead of hiding away because they're scared of getting judged. Yes I had the bedazzled jeans that everyone is wearing around school but I didn’t know that would've been very popular. There was even a thought in my head saying these jeans bring too much attention but I still wore them because that's what I like, I also don't stick to just one style of clothing. There are many people I have seen who changed from freshman year wearing whatever they wanted without a care in the world to wearing clothes to fit in so they don't look/feel like an outcast. I was hoping that for the first day of school that freshman would've come with their own style with no regrets but no I was disappointed to see everyone had on bedazzled jeans, shorts, or timberland boots. Be different! You only live once so why spend that one life trying to fit in. And no this isn't for everyone if you follow the trends and actually like dressing like that. I'm not judging but I'm talking to the ones changing their style just because they’re scared of being judged. I have interviewed my sister, Kelsey Howard about this topic because she is one of the people I have seen that is influenced by trends when it comes to what outfits she wears. She honestly doesn't feel any type of way about it but she also would want people to be more carefree in the way they dress because you only live once. And interviewing her didn’t change my mind at all. I still believe that people need to stop hiding away from who they truly are. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

A few weeks ago, the Liberty Magnet High School French Club hosted french week. This week-long event was to showcase and celebrate Louisiana French culture as well as French culture as a whole. Each day offered a different activity during the lunch shifts encouraging all students to join in on the fun regardless of how much they knew about French Culture. The week kicked off on Monday with a school-wide scavenger hunt. Blue sheets of paper posted around the school with questions asking about French culture. The prizes included a goodie bag with candies and French school accessories like pencils and pins for your bag. Tuesday students were able to enjoy arts and crafts. Wednesday students got together on a rainy day in the library and played Just Dance. Thursday the French club field trip to Port Allen to see the French museum. Lastly, to wrap up the festivities Friday was the facepaint and photobooth day capturing all the memories all the students made while participating in French week. The great thing about this week was how inclusive and interactive the activities were. You were not required to be a part of the french club to participate nor did you need to know much about french culture to partake in the activities. The school cannot wait to see what other fun cultural appreciation activities the foreign language department comes up with next year. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Hopeless Romantic Anonymous Oct 23, 2024 Seniors are on the verge of starting a new chapter in their lives. This poem by an anonymous student tries to capture how time passes so fluidly and how hard it can be at times to hold on to hope. The best moments sneak in the side door More real than the thrills we chase Like a cat It comes in its own time. The best whispers in your ear Distinct, soft, and ordinary The rear view always calls It has a current Begging for closure But makes no promises A thread could be loose forever And you drive on perpetually But to abandon hope, relinquish the idea of quiet joy It is inexcusable. How could we give up on the very thing that drives us? To succumb- abandon the most romantic of endeavors It is inexcusable. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.
- US Justice Department To Seek Death Penalty for Mangione | TLFP
Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link US Justice Department To Seek Death Penalty for Mangione Claniya Olinde Apr 8, 2025 Last Tuesday, the Justice department announced it will seek the death penalty for accused CEO killer Luigi Mangione. Luigi Mangione is the man who has been identified as the alleged suspect in the killing of Brian Thompson, the CEO of the United Health Care. Last Tuesday, the Justice department announced it will seek the death penalty for accused CEO killer Luigi Mangione. He has pleaded not guilty to the state charges, he was charged in a criminal federal complaint but has not been indicted on those charges. Trump indicated he wants to see the Justice Department to pursue the death penalty for Mangione. I feel like the system is very biased when it comes to things like this. Yes, Mangione was wrong if he really did kill the CEO. I don’t think he deserves the death penalty, especially if he was proven innocent for the state charges. It seems that he has been fully proven as guilty for this crime. Meanwhile, its people like Patrick Crusius, who drove all the way to EL Paso and killed 23 hispanics/latinos. This was a hate crime, before killing those people he posted a racist things online. Patrick was able to get a plea deal, when he was proven guilty of killing those innocent people. Not saying murder is right, I feel like the Justice system should stop being unfair when it comes to situations like this. Crusis committed a hate crime, if anything he deserves a death penalty instead of a plea deal. This just shows how unfair the system is when it comes to certain racial status. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link REVIEW - Katseye: Your New Favorite Artist Katseye's newest release, Beautiful Chaos, is only the group’s second EP, but it already shows how much the six members are reaching for something bigger than just another pop project. Katseye's newest release, Beautiful Chaos, is only the group’s second EP, but it already shows how much the six members are reaching for something bigger than just another pop project. The group was formed in 2023 through a global talent competition and signed under HYBE and Geffen, giving them the resources and spotlight to aim straight for an international audience. The members Sophia, Lara, Daniela, Manon, Yoonchae, and Megan bring different cultural and musical influences to the table. Together, their sound is meant to feel global, more universal than just a single genre. The EP features five songs, each aiming to showcase a different style. “M.I.A.” and “Mean Girls” dip into upbeat, electronic inspired pop. “Gabriela” experiments with reggae rhythms and Spanish guitar, creating a warmer sound. But the most talked about track is “Gnarly,” a chaotic hyperpop style anthem that doesn’t hold back. Think BRAT but on ten. It’s noisy, bright, and full of unexpected turns, which makes it stand out against the smoother, safer songs on the project. As a whole, Beautiful Chaos is tightly produced and easy to stream, even if it sometimes feels too careful. From my perspective, though, the album works best when it’s less perfect and more daring. I like the confidence behind “M.I.A.” and the fun vibe of “Mean Girls,” even if they aren’t the most original tracks. “Gabriela” is probably the prettiest song on the EP, and it shows how versatile the group can be when they try something outside the usual pop formula. But “Gnarly” is the one that really sticks with me. At first, it’s a little hard to listen to it’s loud, messy, and even overwhelming but that’s also what makes it so addictive. By the second or third time hearing it, the chorus gets stuck in your head, and you realize it has more personality than anything else here. Overall, I enjoyed Beautiful Chaos because it shows both sides of Katseye the polished global pop group and the unpredictable risk takers. While some songs blend in with other mainstream pop, there are enough moments of originality to make me believe this group has something special. For me, it’s not a perfect album, but it’s one that leaves you curious about what Katseye will do next. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

- Exploring the Environment of Baton Rouge | TLFP
Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Exploring the Environment of Baton Rouge Courtney Prentiss Mar 21, 2025 Baton Rouge, the capital city of Louisiana, is a vibrant location characterized by its rich culture, history, and unique environmental setting. Baton Rouge, the capital city of Louisiana, is a vibrant location characterized by its rich culture, history, and unique environmental setting. Nestled along the eastern bank of the Mississippi River, Baton Rouge offers a distinctive blend of natural beauty and urban development. This article delves into the environmental aspects of Baton Rouge, exploring its geography, climate, and efforts towards sustainability. Geography and Natural Features Baton Rouge is strategically situated in the southeastern part of Louisiana, approximately 80 miles northwest of New Orleans. The city's proximity to the Mississippi River plays a crucial role in shaping its landscape and ecological system. The river not only provides water resources but also supports a diversity of wildlife and plant species. The surrounding wetlands and bayous are essential components of Baton Rouge's natural environment, offering habitats for various aquatic and terrestrial species. The city is also part of the Gulf Coastal Plain, which contributes to its gently rolling hills and fertile soils. These geographical features make Baton Rouge an attractive area for agriculture and outdoor activities, such as hiking and bird-watching. Climate Baton Rouge experiences a humid subtropical climate, characterized by hot, humid summers and mild winters. The average summer temperatures often soar into the high 90s (Fahrenheit), while winter temperatures are typically mild, with averages around the mid-50s. This climate supports a lush, green environment, but it also poses challenges such as high humidity and the potential for severe weather, including hurricanes and tropical storms. The region receives ample rainfall, averaging over 60 inches annually. This abundant precipitation sustains the city's greenery and supports its diverse ecosystems, but it can also lead to flooding, a common concern for residents. Environmental Challenges Like many urban areas, Baton Rouge faces environmental challenges that require careful management and planning. Pollution, particularly from industrial and vehicular emissions, is a significant concern. The city is home to several large petrochemical plants, which, while vital to the local economy, contribute to air and water pollution. Efforts to monitor and reduce emissions are ongoing, with both governmental and non-governmental organizations working towards sustainable solutions. Flooding is another critical issue, exacerbated by the city's low-lying geography and frequent heavy rainfall. The local government has implemented various flood mitigation strategies, including improved drainage systems and floodplain management, to protect communities and infrastructure. Sustainability Initiatives Despite these challenges, Baton Rouge is making strides towards sustainability and environmental conservation. The city has initiated several programs aimed at reducing its carbon footprint and promoting green practices. These initiatives include: Urban Forestry Programs : Efforts to increase tree canopy coverage throughout the city help improve air quality, reduce urban heat, and enhance the overall aesthetic of urban spaces. Recycling and Waste Management : The city provides comprehensive recycling services to reduce landfill waste and encourages residents to participate in waste reduction efforts. Green Infrastructure Projects : These projects focus on integrating natural systems into urban planning to manage stormwater, improve water quality, and create resilient landscapes. Community Involvement Community involvement plays a pivotal role in Baton Rouge's environmental efforts. Local organizations and volunteers actively participate in clean-up events, tree planting, and educational campaigns to raise awareness about environmental issues. These community-driven initiatives foster a sense of stewardship and encourage residents to take an active role in preserving their natural surroundings. In conclusion, Baton Rouge's environment is a tapestry of natural beauty and urban development, marked by both challenges and opportunities. Through concerted efforts and community engagement, the city is working towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future, ensuring that its unique landscapes and ecosystems are preserved for generations to come. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.
