President Donald Trump has announced a 90-day pause on tariffs on all but the most countries, cutting them to 10%, as he raises tariffs on Chinese Imports to 125%. The announcement came in reaction to extreme Market turmoil, including a sudden spike in government borrowing prices and concerns that the United States may enter into recession. The bond market was also in turmoil, with 30-year government bonds yielding more than 5% evoking fears of the 2008 financial crisis. The treasury Secretary of God blessing and other economic officials play the key role in convincing the president to take the pause, starting the administration's unpreparedness to deal with the economic effect and risk of Financial and stability. Market reactions were positive. There remains uncertainty over the long-term direction for the US trade policy, especially as tensions with China continue to escalate. Trump's actions of suspending tariffs on most countries and raising them significantly on China can have a dual impact on ordinary americans. On the one hand, the suspension is good news in the sense that it gives short-term relief for inflation. If the terrorist attacks came into effect across the board, some important goods like Electronics clothing and even food products would have become much more expensive. that would have devastated a lot of people especially considering that inflation already was making American families tighten on their money. by retreating for short-term purposes, on those broader tariffs, that Administration could have avoided interrupt Spike and consumer prices. comments debug Comments (1) Write a comment Write a comment Sort by: Newest grimgm Apr 17, 2025 no Like Reply

When Hurricane Katrina struck in August 2005, it didn’t just flood a city, it exposed the deep cracks in America’s infrastructure and the weakness of its disaster response systems. The Category 5 storm brought 140-mph winds, massive storm surges, and relentless rain that broke the levees and left much of New Orleans underwater. In the days that followed, entire neighborhoods were flooded, homes were reduced to splinters, and basic necessities like food, clean water, and medical care became nonexistent. The storm ultimately claimed more than 1,800 lives and displaced hundreds of thousands, scattering families across the country. The tragedy also revealed the stark inequalities that shaped who suffered most. Low-income neighborhoods and communities of color, many of them already struggling with limited resources, were hit hardest, both by the floodwaters and by the slow, uneven recovery process that followed. “We were stuck for days on end with no way of communication to anyone outside the city.” Katrina Witness, Candace said. Emergency shelters overflowed, communication systems broke down, and government aid was too slow for those with severe medical issues, leaving residents to fend for themselves in dangerous conditions. As the 20th anniversary approaches, the new documentary Hurricane Katrina: Race Against Time offers a powerful window into those harrowing days. Through survivor testimonies, archival footage, and expert analysis, it reminds us of the courage, resilience, and heartbreak experienced by those who lived through the storm, and honors the memory of those who did not. Katrina’s devastation was more than a weather event; it was a test of America’s ability to protect its most vulnerable citizens, a test that revealed deep flaws in preparedness, infrastructure, and equity. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link A Light Has Gone Anonymous Sep 17, 2024 Published by Leanne Kirst Today, the world grew quieter, still A gentle soul has left the hill The hands that shaped so much of me Now rest beneath the silent tree. His voice, once strong, now fades away, But in my heart, it still will stay The laughter shared, the wisdom passed, A love that even death, cant outlast The years were kind, though time was brief, He leaves behind a quiet grief Yet in each tear, a memory gleams, A thread of hope within our dreams The world moves on, as world will do, But something shifts when we lose you No longer will your footsteps sound, Yet in my heart, you'll still be found Though your chair is empty, your love is near, In every quiet moment, I'll feel you here A light has gone, but I still see, Your love lives on inside of me comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

As the school year kicks into high gear, one name is making a big impact on the football field: Aidan Rowley. A junior at Liberty High School, Rowley has captured the attention of fans and experts alike with his standout performances and unwavering dedication. Encouraged by a former coach to try out with no prior experience, Rowley discovered a deep passion for the game he once only watched on TV. Football has quickly become more than just a sport for Rowley; it’s an escape where he finds freedom and clarity. I caught up with Aidan about their first game. How has preparation for this game been different compared to previous matches ? We have lost to southern lab for the past two years in a row so it is important to change the standard for us going into our new season. What’s the biggest challenge you expect to face from today’s opponent, and how do you plan to handle it ? Southern lab’s run game, but we can stop it because I know we have multiple great linemen and linebackers. How important is communication on the field going to be today ? It is very important because we have a lot of new adjustments to our team as a whole so making sure we communicate and that we are on the same page could help us improve in a lot of areas. Do you feel any added pressure with this being a must-win game ? No, because I know that we have what it takes to win. We just have to make sure that we stay locked in and stay focused as a whole. We caught up with Aidan after the game to get insight of his thoughts during the game. How are you feeling after today’s game, and what do you think went wrong for the team? It was rough but we had some minor mistakes that I know we can fix because without those mistakes we could have turned the game around. What adjustments did the team try to make during the game to turn things around? We did not make any adjustments, we just knew we had to go into every play with the mindset to win. How do you plan to bounce back and prepare for the next game ? The plan is to practice harder than last week, fix the small mistakes we made, and we will get better. Despite the loss, were there any positives you can take away from this game ? We know that what we run on both sides of the ball can work against teams and that if we polish ourselves it will be hard to beat. How do you stay mentally strong after a tough loss like this ? Remember that not every game will be a win and that after 24 hours it’s time to forget about it, win or loss, and focus on the next game. How do you plan to use this experience to improve your own performance going forward ? I understand that I need to work harder in order to be put in a situation by my coaches to where they can trust that I’ll carry out my responsibilities. Rowley’s rise in football highlights the impact of following one’s passion. What started as a simple tryout has grown into a remarkable journey of growth and dedication. With his impressive skills and enthusiasm, Rowley is not only making a mark on the field but also inspiring others. As he looks ahead, it’s clear that his future in football is full of promise. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link The List. Lily Vandyke Feb 4, 2026 As of this weekend, additional names and photos have been released in connection with court documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. According to publicly available records, more than a million files tied to Epstein and his associates have been made public, shedding further light on allegations of abuse and trafficking. The documents indicate that multiple victims were recruited under false promises and later subjected to exploitation. Many were young women and minors who were allegedly trafficked to powerful individuals. According to survivor accounts and court filings, some victims were lured by people they trusted and promised financial support or opportunities, only to later face abuse and coercion. Several survivors have spoken publicly about their experiences. Liz Stein, identified in reports as a survivor connected to Epstein, has shared her story and advocated for greater transparency and accountability. However, many victims have not had the opportunity or platform to come forward. Legislation such as the Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed during the Trump administration, aimed to increase public access to related records. Despite this, some information in the released documents remains redacted, leaving questions about the full scope of those involved. High-profile figures, including former President Donald Trump, Jay-Z and former President Bill Clinton, have been mentioned in connection with Epstein in various documents and reports. However, being named in such records does not imply criminal wrongdoing, and several individuals have denied any involvement in illegal activity. The continued release of these files has sparked public discussion about accountability, transparency and the influence of powerful individuals. As more information becomes available, questions remain about what is still unknown, and whether full transparency will ever be achieved. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

- OPINION: On The Death Penalty | TLFP
Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link OPINION: On The Death Penalty Dajah Taylor Mar 7, 2025 A man was executed in South Carolina via firing squad. A man was executed in South Carolina via firing squad. This method had not been used in almost 15 years and it has never been used in the state. The only other two state approved methods besides firing squad is the lethal injection and the electric chair. Brad Sigmon, 67, was convicted of the double murder of his ex-girlfriend's parents in 2021. He also kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and held her at gunpoint; however, she managed to escape to safety. Sigmon’s attorney said that the choice to choose between the different punishments were “impossible” and “barbaric”. If Sigmon didn’t choose between the lethal injection or firing squad then by default he would be turned to a crisp in the electric chair. Gerald “Bo” King stated that Brad has no illusions about what being shot will do to his body. He does not wish to inflict that pain on his family, the witnesses, or the execution team.” Compared to the other choices, firing squad does seem like the viable option because it will end the pain the fastest. Today we live in a day where many believe that if someone murders a person then they should get life in prison. Many believe that the death penalty is the easy way out or even inhumane. However, I do not believe this. A man ended the lives of two parents. He took away the two people that would always love their daughter unconditionally and there is nothing that could justify that. Some relationships do end badly but that doesn’t mean you should retaliate and resort to killing and leaving someone with trauma. This punishment is completely justified because it will help the family get justice and heal from this wound that could have been avoided. Approximately 2,250 are on death row and the rate of execution declines each year. Morals do become a big deciding factor on how people choose to handle this situation. Hopefully in the future the prison system will get better with time. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

- Were the Miami Mall Aliens Real? | TLFP
Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Were the Miami Mall Aliens Real? Taylor Harris Sep 4, 2025 We all can tell the alien sighting at the Miami Mall in 2024 was very suspicious. We all can tell the alien sighting at the Miami Mall in 2024 was very suspicious. How did so many people who have no connection to one another come out and say they saw a giant figure then the police department say no it was not? In January 2024, at the Miami Mall a big event of chaos broke out. People running out of the mall at all exits, yelling and screaming but what happened? Police reports say a group of teenagers started a fight and that's all what happened but witnesses who were at the mall and video footage describe an 8 foot figure is what caused all of it. A lot of witnesses say an alien was present. No one believes that a fight happened because a fight would not cause every single police officer in Miami to show up. Also, people who were in the mall reported that they never saw a fight break out. Lauren Lands who is a senior at Liberty Magnet High School lets me know her opinions “I don’t believe that the alien were real however I do believe that there are other beings other than us. I think that the police were trying to cover up something that they didn’t want the public to see. I understand why everyone is confused about this because in either situation of a fight or aliens, it is a confusing conflict”. Mason Hill is also a senior at LMHS and said “It is hard to know if the alien was real or not. I’ve seen the video footage and it does look like a tall figure but it is a very blurry video. How is it that every single person that was there doesn’t have a clear video of anything that night? I do find it suspicious how so many police showed up for a “fight between teenagers” because a teen fight does not require that many police and if it was a fight the police department is extremely unorganized to send every officer in Miami there”. I have the same opinion. Why out of everyone in the mall, we only have 1 or 2 blurry videos from far away from that entire night. If a fight broke out in Miami, someone is bound to record it. Police laughing off the matter is definitely suspicious as well. People were scared and feared for their safety and they laughed it off. At the end of the day, we might never know what truly happened. comments debug Comments (1) Write a comment Write a comment Sort by: Newest Maverick Sep 30, 2025 I think the aliens are real Like Reply

Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Hey! We're Boiling Down Here! Taylor Harris Oct 16, 2025 I know everyone is feeling how hot it has been lately. I know everyone is feeling how hot it has been lately. Not just in Louisiana either, it has been hot everywhere. Even in the states that get hot rarely are burning up. Usually around this time of the month, it would be cold or at the very least cool. Lately it has been cool in the morning but it will heat up later in the day and get to around 95°. It is not expected to get cold in Baton Rouge until around December. But why is the world heating up you may be asking? According to Fox10 “Right now, a strong ridge or “bubble” of warm, sinking air high up in the atmosphere is parked over the eastern U.S. Ridges create subsidence (sinking air), which warms and dries out as it sinks. That’s why we’re seeing mostly sunny skies, very warm afternoons, and just a few spotty storms.”. I asked fellow Liberty Magnet High School Student and Liberty Track Team Member Ivory Brown some questions about this weather. It has been so much hotter than usual. It definitely has something to do with climate change and how much greenhouse gases are going up in the air. It usually is freezing on halloween and this year it’ll most likely be hot which is crazy to imagine. Hopefully it will get cold this month but I highly doubt it” Ivory Said. Greenhouse gases are a big cause for the world heating up. According to Citizens Climate Lobby, it says “Human activities, like the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation, have put a lot of greenhouse gas into the atmosphere. Way too much. Think of the regular greenhouse effect as one, nice cozy blanket. Now think of the enhanced greenhouse effect as that blanket plus a duvet, sheet set, wool pajamas, space heater, and 17 other blankets thrown on for good measure.” The weather has changed drastically this year and I think that we all have noticed. In the meantime, the weather has been cooling up in the mornings which is a step up from the weather in the mornings before. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.
