Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Nintendo Announces Switch 2 Price Kamryn Bell Apr 7, 2025 Nintendo announced the Nintendo Switch 2, releasing June 5, 2025. Nintendo announced the Nintendo Switch 2, releasing June 5, 2025. It will cost $449.99, or $499.99 with “Mario Kart World.” Pre-orders start April 9. The console has a 7.9-inch screen with 1080p resolution and supports 4K when docked. It includes 256GB of storage and new magnetic Joy-Con controllers with bigger buttons. It also adds cool features like GameChat for voice/video chat and GameShare for local multiplayer with one game copy. The launch will include new games like “Mario Kart World,” “Metroid Prime 4,” and updated Zelda titles. GameCube games are coming too. The Switch 2 works with most old Switch games and will be shown off at events before launch. I think the new Switch costs too much. It breaks too easily and can’t hold many games. I have one and it is fun to play. I really like playing Mario Kart on it. But even then, it doesn’t have a lot of space for games. If you buy it for kids, it might not last long. The controllers come off and they break really fast. There are also too many little parts for kids to lose. The games are fun, but the system itself isn’t strong. I wouldn’t spend that much money on it. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.
- Pink Power: Liberty Magnet Raises Awareness for Breast Cancer | TLFP
Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Pink Power: Liberty Magnet Raises Awareness for Breast Cancer Lauren Hicks Oct 16, 2025 Pink filled the halls of Liberty Magnet High as students and staff came together to show that awareness, hope, and unity can make a powerful difference. Pink filled the halls of Liberty Magnet High as students and staff came together to show that awareness, hope, and unity can make a powerful difference. Liberty magnet students share personal stories of breast cancer and can inspire and educate students.Demonstrates ways schools can support awareness, like wristbands, videos, or events. Highlights the emotional impact and sense of community that awareness initiatives create. After spwaking with Jermany Oliney, this is what she had to say about the celebration of breast cancer awareness week: Why is it important for schools like Liberty Magnet to participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Week? I think it’s important because it teaches us to care about real-world issues that affect people outside of school. Breast Cancer Awareness Week helps us realize that anyone, like our teachers, parents, or even neighbors, could be affected. It reminds us to be supportive and to use our voices for something meaningful. How can students help raise awareness and support those affected by breast cancer? Students can do a lot! We can wear pink, make posters, post on social media, or help with school fundraisers. Even just talking about it helps spread awareness. Some students share personal stories or wear ribbons to honor loved ones. It shows that we care and that we’re part of the fight for a cure. What impact does wearing pink have on the school community’s sense of unity and compassion? When everyone wears pink, it feels like the whole school is one big team. It’s cool to look around and see that we’re all standing together for the same cause. It builds a lot of school spirit and shows how much we care about each other, even if we’ve never met someone who has breast cancer personally. How does learning about breast cancer encourage early detection and self-care among young people? Learning about it helps us understand how important it is to take care of our bodies. Even though we’re young, it teaches us good habits like going to the doctor, paying attention to our health, and knowing that early detection can save lives. It also helps us remind our parents or older family members to get checked. What emotions or stories surfaced as students and staff participated in awareness activities? There were definitely a lot of emotions. Some people got really emotional sharing stories about family members who’ve had breast cancer. But there was also a lot of hope and love. It was powerful to see everyone supporting each other and showing kindness. It made the week feel really meaningful. Breast Cancer Awareness Week at Liberty Magnet High School showed the power of community, education, and compassion. By coming together to wear pink, participate in activities, and spread knowledge, students and staff not only honored those affected by breast cancer but also inspired hope and awareness that can make a lasting impact. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

- Reflecting on School Spirit | TLFP
Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Reflecting on School Spirit Dajah Taylor Sep 3, 2024 Everything can always be improved upon. This includes school spirit. Everything can always be improved upon. This includes school spirit. School spirit is important because it strengthens the student body’s academic and social performance. For the past couple of years, our school spirit has been lacking. Many around the school also agree that the school spirit needs to be improved because it feels boring & mundane. Emily, a senior at Liberty Magnet High School stated, “Since it is our senior year, I feel the seniors can have a bit more fun like other seniors at other high schools”. She later says “I do like these Friday fun days a lot, but we need student-oriented pep rallies, not just for sports, but also before we go out on school breaks.” With as much work as everyone at this school puts in, it would be nice if there were more time to incorporate fun activities and events. School should be a place where you want to learn, hang out with your friends, and a safe environment to come to. School shouldn’t be a daunting or depressing place to go to for multiple hours out of your day. School shouldn’t be filled with just work and restrictions, what’s the fun in that? Another student at Liberty Magnet says, “Create a less strict environment, it’s hard to relax and enjoy school" (Carmen, 12th). A second senior, Anna, also says that we should have, “more energetic teachers that are happy to come here”. With Olivia(12th) adding on that we need to get more, “experienced teachers”. Most of the kids at our school believe that we don’t do many fun activities and the teachers here don’t bring life into the classrooms. However, it’s important to note that both positive and negative feelings are brought on by the people we surround ourselves. Enthusiasm comes from both sides. You don’t always have to do big things to create a positive environment. Everyone has to do the little things for a positive atmosphere to be created. In the best interests of everyone, we all have to meet each other in the middle. Something as simple as saying, “Hello” or “Good Morning” are great ways to brighten someone’s day. Opening the door for others is a good way to encourage helpfulness and positivity. Walking on one side of the sidewalk is another way to show you’re considerate. To improve our school, everyone has to put in the effort to make it happen. That means kids have to not get in trouble, so that way we can celebrate everyone’s accomplishments with fun activities. That also means that teachers, staff, and students all have to be respectful and appreciative of everyone around them because without the staff, teachers, and student body this school is nothing. The only way our school spirit is ever going to improve is if everyone is willing to be open and lend a helping hand. There is always a way to get involved in something and be a part of something bigger than yourself. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

"The Bad Guys 2” follows the Bad Guys as they struggle to live honest lives—until they decide to catch the Phantom Bandit in hopes of convincing the public they have changed. While pursuing the bandit, they are set up and framed, and everyone once again believes they are criminals. With help from one of Snake’s friends, they manage to escape, but the friend is secretly working with the Phantom Bandit and captures them. After waking up, the Bad Guys meet the Phantom Bandit and her crew and are forced to help with their crimes in order to clear their names.Once the first heist was over, the Bad Guys discover that the Phantom Bandit has video proof that the mayor is the former Phantom Paw. They must choose between saving themselves from arrest or protecting the mayor’s secret—but in the end, they fail to do both. After the police commissioner has a change of heart, the Bad Guys are released and manage to stop the Phantom Bandit. In the process, they fake their deaths so they can operate as secret agents. The person interviewed thought that the movie was creative and had good animation, but wasn’t funny and disliked the beginning of the movie where the bad guys were poor and struggling to get jobs. Personally I liked the animation and thought the movie was somewhat funny but the only thing I didn't like was how they took a minions approach and made the former bad guys secret agents. Something I really liked though was the commissioner trusting the bad guys for once and helping them out. I feel like that was a big part of her character development. The person interviewed rated the movie an overall 7/10 and would recommend for others to watch, I rated the movie an 8/10 and would recommend for others to watch but would warn someone that an older audience may not enjoy it as much as the movie seems more oriented towards kids. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.

- OPINION: Tik Tok Should Have Stayed Banned - But Not For The Reason You Think | TLFP
Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link OPINION: Tik Tok Should Have Stayed Banned - But Not For The Reason You Think Ellis Turner Feb 17, 2025 Maybe the short-lived ban of the popular video sharing app shouldn't have been so short-lived after all. The United States just about broke down when congress announced that TikTok, a popular social media platform, would be banned. The app has around 170 million users in the US alone. Many of these users are content creators as well, who use their platforms for a variety of topics. When the devastating news was shared, creators and silent scrollers alike were quick to share their opinions. Lawmakers and US officials shared that the app’s Chinese origins posed a national security threat. Many officials believed that the app was able to gather and sell data to China. American users proposed many conspiracies against the ban and shared frustrations as to why congress was spending time on such a thing. Others flat-out shared that they did not care if China was stealing their information. On January 19, the ban took effect. When users opened the app they were greeted with a message explaining the issue. However, no more than 24 hours later the app was back up. Content on TikTok resumed as normal and America rejoiced. After the scare, creators seemed to move on to the next new thing quickly. While scrolling through the app you’re unlikely to find content on the same issues for long. On TikTok information comes and goes, even something as big as banning the app entirely. Therein lies the issue with TikTok; short-form content forces users to move too quickly. The problem is not whether our data is being sold to China because it’s being sold everywhere else. The issue is that our attention-spans are being sold. The rise of short-form content has been detrimental to our mental states and focus. Let’s think back to what entertainment looked like a few decades ago. If we were bored we’d read a book or go talk to our families. Fast forward a few more years and now we have movies to keep us entertained. I have vivid memories of picking out DVDs to rent with my mom whenever we had the chance. Now, we have a million streaming services to watch whatever we want, whenever we want. Social media is no different, we can tune into the world at the tap of a button. Notice a trend? The activities we use for stimulation and dopamine have gotten shorter and shorter. So has our attention spans. Somehow, we’ve deemed scrolling through an endless stream of videos as entertaining. One minute you’ve just gotten home from school and, taking a quick break, you decide to scroll before starting your homework. The next moment the sun's setting and you haven’t gotten anything done. With this realization you finally sit down to do your homework but you find it hard to concentrate. Why is that? By introducing these short videos, TikTok has been able to successfully appeal to our basic animalistic functions. A study conducted by B.F. Skinner in the 1920s went as follows: Skinner placed a rat in a box with a lever. When pulled, the lever would produce a treat. As the rat went from accidentally pulling the lever to intentionally pulling it Skinner saw the rats behavior change. Eventually, the rat lost interest in pulling the lever. Skinner then began feeding the rat at random intervals. Immediately the rat's excitement came back. So much so that the rat would lose interest in more important tasks such as grooming and sleeping just in case a treat was produced. This is the same thing happening with TikTok. The uncertainty we have about what the next video could be keeps us engaged. This phenomenon has had a variety of effects on our mental states. According to psychiatrist Dr. Kanojia, “...what's happening is we are actually selecting for shorter and shorter attention spans. So as kids start watching TikTok and if we kind of look at the adhd diagnosis, adhd has been increasing all along.” That’s right folks, TikTok is increasing the symptoms of ADHD in kids. That idea boils back down to our decreasing ability to focus on one thing. We don’t have to wait to get to the ‘good part’ of things anymore, thus limiting our capacity to concentrate. The dopamine we receive when engaging in stimulating activities is now just being handed to us. The availability of millions of topics gets us excited and ready to move onto the next thing. Many of them joked that the ban would help them get their lives together. I believe these jokes are becoming a reality. While TikTok doesn’t necessarily need to be banned, it does need to be limited in some way. We can’t keep sacrificing hours of our time to watch influencers unbox the next great product. If you made it this far, great! If you skipped to the end here's the rundown: We’re spending more and more time watching 30 second videos which inhibit our reward systems. Instead of having to sit through a movie or read a book our dopamine is handed to us on a red and blue platter. As TikTok grabs more and more attention the cycle will keep going. I encourage students and adults alike to find hobbies or extracurricular activities. While TikTok doesn’t need to be banned, as it’s a great resource, time spent on it should be heavily reduced. The endless stream of videos does more harm than good. We’re investing more than just our time when scrolling. comments debug Comments Write a comment Write a comment Share Your Thoughts Be the first to write a comment.
